Hive Helsinki is ready to kick off the Summer Piscines of 2023. The code school is hosting its biggest Piscines yet with nearly 360 applicants in total.
The Piscine is an immersive coding boot camp that serves as a gateway to Hive Helsinki's full-time studies. The rigorous month-long Piscine challenges the participants to forget everything they have previously learned about success and entrance examinations: the applicants work on projects together for one month and learn through continuous trial and error. In addition to technical skills, they develop vital soft skills such as teamwork, rigor, creativity, adaptability, and time management.
Hive has no maximum or minimum student admittance, which removes any sense of competition from the Piscine. The applicants are selected based on a variety of factors, including their ability to work with others. Last year, 62% of the admitted students had no previous coding experience.
Hive has been committed to bringing people from all walks of life into coding, with a focus on gender diversity. In 2023, Hive attracted an all-time high of 39.79% non-male applicants to its applicant funnel. Far from perfect, the figure serves as an incentive to continue reaching out to diverse audiences .
The code school is eager to welcome a new batch of motivated future coding talent into its community and equip them with the skills and mindset needed to solve the problems of tomorrow.
This year's Piscines kick off on June 26th and August 7th at the Hive Helsinki campus in Kallio.
