how to apply to hive
No degrees or previous experience required. Just the willingness to commit, build and experiment with technology, and collaborate with others.
You need to be at least 18 and either an EU citizen or hold a residence permit that allows you to study in Finland. That’s it. The rest you showcase through motivation and doing.
The application has three stages. Each one asks a little more of you than the last. First, create your account on intra.hive.fi, then the three stages begin.

Step 1: Try our online game
This is our problem-solving test. It measures logical thinking, not technical knowledge, so no experience is needed. Set aside at least an hour, find somewhere you can focus, and you get up to three attempts.
Step 2: Attend a check-in event
Once you’ve completed the game, join a check-in, online or on-site. It’s a required step, and it’s where you’ll hear exactly how Hive works, what the Selection Sprint involves, and what you’re signing up for.
Step 3: Participate in the Selection Sprint
A three-week selection period on campus, full-time, that gives you a real taste of how we work: projects, peer review, no teachers. No prior technical skills needed, just come open and ready for hard work.
Always open to apply
The first step of the application process, the online game, is always open for you to try.
However, the check-ins and selection sprint dates are announced on our website and application portal.
