get a formal degree

Hive Helsinki’s educational partner, Stadin AO, supports students who have not yet completed an upper secondary qualification. Through this partnership, you have the opportunity to earn your qualification while studying at Hive.

Why get a formal degree?

A formal qualification keeps your options open. You might walk straight into a tech job after Hive and never need it. But if you later decide to continue your studies, a recognised upper secondary qualification is what opens the door to higher education in Finland. It’s there if you want it, and you can earn it alongside your studies at Hive with very little additional effort.

This matters most if you don’t yet have an upper secondary qualification. If you already have one, you don’t need this.

How it works

The degree is a Vocational Qualification in Information and Communications Technology. The clever part is that you don’t study it twice.

Your studies at Hive count as the vocational part of the qualification. At Stadin AO, you complete only the common units (YTO-aineet) required by every Finnish vocational degree. So the heavy lifting happens at Hive, and Stadin AO adds the formal pieces around it.

When to apply
You can apply for degree studies at Stadin AO towards the end of your Hive studies.
