Selection Sprint, Day One
19.1.2026
Today, Hive Helsinki welcomed a new group to campus, and with them, the start of something new. We are genuinely excited to have new people in the space again and to see the campus fill up with curiosity, questions, and fresh perspectives.
New Curriculum, new Selection Sprint
The Selection Sprints have now started, and this one marks the beginning of our new curriculum. It is a three-week, full-time sprint that gives a real sense of how learning works at Hive Helsinki, right from the start.
This sprint is both a chance to try out Hive and a way for us to get to know the people applying. As a programming school built around peer learning, it is where applicants experience what studying software development at Hive actually feels like. It is also part of our selection process for the full-time programme.
Learning together from day one
Right from the beginning, people have been working together in a really natural way. Applicants are already helping each other out, sharing ideas, asking questions, and figuring things out side by side. Collaboration is not something that comes later. It is already part of the experience.
This way of learning together sits at the core of Hive’s approach to coding education. You learn to code, but you also learn how to learn with others.
Three weeks, full time
Over the next three weeks, this group will be learning full time, getting hands on with the work, and building habits that matter just as much as technical skills. The sprint shows what studying at a coding school in Helsinki can actually feel like, day to day.
We are excited to see how this first Selection Sprint unfolds and how the new Hive curriculum grows through the people in it. Welcome to Hive. We are really glad you are here.
