A lively scene at the registration desk for a Selection Sprint event at Hive Helsinki. A person in a green hoodie is laughing happily at the counter, where small potted plants are also visible. In the foreground, a person with glasses smiles at the camera from behind a laptop. A queue of diverse individuals is seen in the background, waiting for entry.

The SELECTION SPRINT

Three weeks. Full time. On campus in Helsinki. Free of charge. No competition.

You can start from zero

Your past doesn’t matter. You just have to be ready to work hard and help others.

If you’re ready to commit fully, the learning curve will be intense.

Open-plan tech workspace filled with rows of desktop computers and many people seated and standing working and collaborating, with exposed ceiling ducts, bright overhead lighting and a yellow glass partition wall with an arch design in the background.

No competition

You won’t compete against others. You’ll work alongside them, solve problems, and help each other.

There are no quotas on how many we can select. However, on average, about one-third of applicants who make it until the end are accepted.

What the 3 weeks are like

The Selection Sprint gives you a taste of learning at Hive: full-time, on campus, on projects, with people around you.

You plan your hours, but come to campus everyday. You work on programming projects with others, review each other’s work, and learn by doing.

You will fail a lot, but learn to treat failures as experiments and needed checkpoints to help you move forward.

By the end, you’ll know if Hive fits you. And we’ll know if you fit Hive.

Try, fail, and try again

Failures are treated as experiments at Hive.

The Sprint puts you in situations you don’t know how to handle yet, on purpose. That’s how the skills get built.

If you notice Hive isn’t for you, you can step away at any point.
