Beecoming 2025

On 27 November, our Hive community came together to celebrate the Beecoming ceremony. It was an evening full of familiar faces, shared smiles, and moments of pride. We captured photos, stories, and flashes of joy that now live on in this blog post. Here is a look back at the event, the studies that shaped our graduates, and the meaning of this moment.

A short look at Hive

Hive Helsinki was founded on a clear idea. Learning works best when people support each other. There are no lectures and no traditional teachers. Instead, there is a group of curious people solving problems side by side. The studies are practical, community-driven, and often a bit messy in the way real learning usually is. You are encouraged to try things, break things, ask for help, share what you know, and keep experimenting until something finally works.

What the Beecoming ceremony is

Beecoming is our chance to stop for a moment. It brings the Hive community together to celebrate everyone who pushed through setbacks and still moved forward. It is a simple and heartfelt gathering where we look back at the work behind us and look ahead to a future that feels a little more open. It marks the shift from student to graduate and gives space to appreciate how far each person has come.

Getting in is hard, finishing is even harder

Anyone who has gone through the Piscine knows the process is tough. Many apply, but only a small number get in. And once inside, the challenges do not slow down. Projects pile up. Days are long. You face new concepts, frustrations, and moments where you wonder if you can really do this.

Finishing Hive is not only an academic achievement. It is proof of endurance, teamwork, and the courage to keep going. Every graduate who stood at the Beecoming ceremony has earned their place with steady effort, honesty, and a lot of determination.

A message from our CEO

The technological landscape is changing at an unprecedented pace. Making predictions on what skills and qualities will be appreciated by businesses just one year ahead is uncertain, and three years feels like a distant future. This need to quickly adapt to changing technology and market demands impacts everyone, including educational institutions such as universities and polytechnics.

The good news is that Hive, unlike traditional institutions, is independent and extremely agile. This allows us to quickly tweak our curriculum and adjust focus areas as needed.

And because the intensive studies at Hive take only 1.5 years to complete, the time between implementing curriculum changes and the first graduates benefiting from that new experience is just around two years. This is relatively fast.

You, our graduates, embody the essential qualities needed in this environment. Finishing this intensive program validates your endurance, your ability to take ownership, and your skill to solve problems together. You have mastered the ultimate skill: the ability to continuously adapt and learn. This capability is the edge you carry into the world, preparing you not just for today’s market, but for whatever future you choose to create.
