Hive Helsinki is evolving with a new curriculum and platform

Five years ago, Hive Helsinki was founded as an experiment to test an alternative way of learning: no teachers, no lectures, but instead practical problem-solving. Since then, Hive has developed into a unique and thriving community where you learn real-world skills.

Now, Hive Helsinki is evolving into its next chapter.

What’s New

Starting with the next cohort, all new students at Hive will study with an updated curriculum and a brand-new learning platform. Our new curriculum and platform have been developed together with Hive’s new partner //kood, a fast-growing organization from Estonia’s thriving tech and startup scene. 

Here are all the updates: 

  • A New Learning Platform that supports our hands-on, collaborative learning and enables creating tailored content in cooperation with partners and employers. 
  • An Updated Curriculum with fresh content to equip Hivers with modern work-life skills
  • Structured Event Tracks led by top industry experts, covering topics like Technical Skills, Real-Life Software Development, Mentoring & Careers, and Startup & Founder.
  • The “Piscine” is now called the “Selection Sprint,” which runs for 3 weeks instead of 4.

Hive’s new capability of creating bespoke learning projects together with partners unlocks exciting opportunities for companies and organizations in the Finnish tech ecosystem.

What Makes Hive Unique

Hive is a free, 18-month, full-time program where you learn on-site, by doing, alongside your peers. It is 100% project-based, hands-on, and open to anyone 18 or older with a valid residence permit in Finland.

At Hive, you will tackle real challenges, learn to take ownership of your progress, and be part of a community that has your back. By the time you graduate, you will have a problem-solving mindset and strong, practical programming skills, now with even more exposure to technologies that reflect real-world needs.

Starting today, you can register in the application portal. Applications will open in the coming weeks, we will announce the exact date soon. You need to be registered before you can apply. So sign up early and be ready when applications open!
